The Tour Enlightenment, Spreading The Word & Nirvana
DAY 1 – Arrive Delhi you will be met by your SGTI driver and guide and transferred to your hotel. Depending upon the time of your flight there may be time for some sightseeing today. Sight-seeing in Delhi including Buddhist and Hindu Temples and the Muslim Jama Masjid (closed Friday)
Overnight days 1&2 Delhi
Day 3 – Today you will be transferred to IGI Airport for your direct flight to Varanasi where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. 2 days sight-seeing in Varanasi including a Ganges River Boat trip to witness the evening Aarti and a visit to Sarnath to see the Stupa commemorating the place where the Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon.
Overnight days 3&4 Varanasi
Day 5 – Today you will be transferred Kushinagar where Lord Buddha attained Parinirvana. Your visit will include time at the Mahaparinirvana Temple where you will see the reclining Buddha, the Mathakuar Temple where Buddha made his final sermon and the Mahaparinirvana Temple where Lord Buddha was cremated.
Overnight days 5 & 6 Kushinagar
Day 8 – Today you will be transferred to Vaishali where Lord Buddha crossed the Ganges on his last journey. You will visit the Japanese Peace Pagoda and the Stupa which contained a portion of Lord Buddha's ashes, the tank where monkeys fed him honey and the Ashoka pillar with its lion mount facing north, the direction that Buddha took when he left Vaishali.
Overnight day 8 Vaishali
Day 9 – Today you will be transferred to Rajgir. It is here that Lord Buddha spent 6 years in ascetic meditation in the cave at Dungeshwari which you will visit. You will also spend time at Vultures Peak where Lord Buddha meditated and the Stupa at Bakrour where he was given kheer by a 13 year old girl, Sujata, after he ended his ascetic period. You will also have the opportunity to visit the nearby school for poor and orphaned children.
Overnight day 9 Rajgir
Day 10 – Bodh Gaya is where Prince Siddartha Gautama attained enlightenment under the original Bodhi tree. You will spend time in the temple grounds, visit the present Bodhi tree – a descendant of the original – and visit the many temples from countries around the world and have time to meditate in auspicious sites.
Overnight days 10, 11 & 12 Bodh Gaya
Day 13 – Today you will be transferred to Varanasi for your return flight to Delhi.
Overnight day 13 Delhi
Day 14 – Today you will be transferred to IGI Airport for your homeward flight.
SGTI service ends.
